Veterans Cash Benefits
The VA provides considerable cash benefits for veterans, for example, did
you know that....
A $300 benefit is available to you if you are
receiving a VA pension or if you were in a VA hospital or VA approved nursing home at the
time of death?
A $2000 benefit is available if you were on active
duty or if you die from a service related injury?
A $300 plot allowance is available to the veteran's family if burial is in a
private cemetery (death must occur in a VA Hospital or VA approved Nursing
facility)?
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has the primary
responsibility for verifying eligibility for burial benefits. The decision on
eligibility is usually made in response to an application for burial benefits.
The terms of eligibility are very specific and set forth qualifications based on
service, discharge, and for spouses, marital status.
Note that all Cash Benefits collected will apply directly to the
funeral or cremation expense.
